12 Goal is BACK in Houston!! Brookshire Polo Club challenged Eureka in the first Sunday 12 Goal game on Farish field at the Houston Polo Club.

Eureka started the game with a two goal advantage due to the handicap difference between the teams, and team captain Rene Campos was the first to score, giving his team a quick 3 to 0 lead going into the second chukker. Brookshire Polo Club’s Tommy Alberdi put his team on the board at the beginning of the second chukker, however Eureka’s Jorge Cernadas responded with his first goal of the game to keep his team’s 3 goal lead. The youngest player on the field, Brookshire’s Milo Dorignac, chipped away at the opposition’s lead scoring a goal of his own, quickly followed by teammate Alberdi to end the chukker only trailing by 1 goal. The third chukker was all about Eureka’s Rene Campos, as he scored back to back goals to give his team a 6 to 3 lead as the team’s took their half time break.

With the fresh April weather, spectators were happy to get out onto the field to stretch their legs, stomp divots and enjoy complimentary champagne. After the teams had a chance to talk about their second half strategy, it was time to begin the last three chukkers of the game.

Eureka scored the first goal of the second half, giving them an impressive 4 goal lead, but Brookshire Polo Club’s Alvaro Ara and Alberdi chipped away at the lead to bring their team within 2 goals. Campos came out firing in the fifth chukker, scoring back to back goals for the second time in the game! Brookshire’s Alberdi and Dorignac responded once again with a goal a piece to keep their team within 2 goals of the lead. In the sixth and final chukker, Alberdi scored his team’s 8th goal of the game to come within 1 goal of the lead. As the crowd was on the edge of their seats to see if Brookshire Polo Club was going to take the game into overtime, Eureka snuck their last goal of the game in to solidify their win with the final score of 10 to 8!
