2025 Houston Women’s Polo Championship

AF Pony Farm/Wild Dog’s Tiamo Hudspeth carries the ball downfield in front of the crowd

On Sunday, November 16, BCI/Lazy 3 and AF Pony Farm/Wild Dog faced off in an all-American battle for the U.S. Open Women’s Handicap at Houston Polo Club. In a high-speed, wide-open match, AF Pony Farm/Wild Dog Polo leaned on the experience of titleholders Colburn, Hudspeth and Persano, blending seamlessly with Benz’s power to go undefeated and claim the prestigious 14- to 18-goal title. AF Pony Farm/Wild Dog Polo began the match with 0.5 goals on handicap, but back-to-back goals from the Grant sisters quickly put BCI/Lazy 3 on the scoreboard. Responding from the field, Hudspeth gave the team in yellow a 2.5-2 advantage. Holding BCI/Lazy 3’s Maddie Grant to one goal in the second chukker, Persano and Benz extended AF Pony Farm/Wild Dog’s advantage to 4.5-3 at the break.

Trading goals in the third period, AF Pony Farm/Wild Dog entered the final chukker with a narrow 1.5-goal edge. Both teams battled relentlessly, with Persano positioning herself on the goal line to extend the lead. Despite a late penalty conversion by Maddie Grant, AF Pony Farm/Wild Dog worked the clock to secure a thrilling 7.5-6 victory.

2025 USPA Women’s Challenge

Out of the eight teams competing in the 2025 USPA Women’s Challenge, two rose to the top—Pata Life and Sonic Land Rover Houston—advancing to the final on Saturday, November 15.

Because of the difference in team handicaps, Pata Life began the match with a half-goal advantage. Sonic Land Rover Houston came out strong, catching Pata Life flat-footed in the first chukker and ending the period ahead 3–1.5. Although Sonic Land Rover Houston remained scoreless in the second chukker, they maintained their lead at 3–2.5 heading into halftime.

Pata Life surged ahead in the third chukker, holding Sonic Land Rover Houston’s Maddie Grant to a single goal while scoring four of their own to take a commanding 6.5–4 lead going into the final chukker. MVP and high scorer of the day, Pata Life’s Alana Benz, delivered three consecutive goals, followed by teammate Sylvie Kampshoff’s final goal of the match, securing a 10.5–4 victory for Pata Life.
